A look through our past in pictures


1924 - Fr Alban Robinson s.j.grouped with the Scouts. Third row, fourth from right, is future President of Malta,   Dr. Vincent Tabone.


Scoutmaster Fr Alban Robinson s.j. 1924 - 1944 He was a military chaplain during the Second World War.


1947 - The first Rover Crew:
centre is Fr B. Vella, Group Chaplain with, on his left, Mr M.A. Saliba, District Commissioner, and Group Scout Leader Anthony. F. Mifsud.


1943 - Group Scoutmaster Anthony F. Mifsud with the Scouts. Seated in front of him is future President of Malta, Professor Guido de Marco.


1955 - Island Commissioner Col. J.A. Sammut presents the Mallia Shield for Camping to Patrol Leader Hubert Rizzo.
Col. Sammut was a former College patrol leader.


1955 - Patrol Leader Hubert Rizzo again leads the College Patrol which won the Bates Cup for Scouting.
That year the college Scouts won all the trophies.


1955- Island Commissioner Victor Vella, a former College patrol leader, is invested witht the Silver Acorn by the Governor and Chief Scout Sir Robert Laycock.

1957 - Patrol Leader Gerald Bartoli introduces the Chief Scout of the Commonwealth to our group mascot, toy chimp Oscar at the Catholic Jamboree in Buckmore Park, Kent.


1961 - Our Scouts 'star' in a film shot in London for the opening of Baden-Powell House. Right: Patol Leader (S) Norman Pillow next to B-P's statue.


1964 - Group Scout Leader John A. Mizzi is invested with the Medal of Merit by the Chief Scout of the Commonwealth

1968 - Patrol Leader Alex Borg presents a sum of money and toys for the children of the
earthquake devastated Western Sicily to Mr. Harry Evans, British Vice-Consul at Palermo. The College Scouts were taking
passage in HMS Scarborough. Looking on is Captain Nigel Cecil, who was later the last Commander of the British Forces in Malta in 1979.


1977 - The College Scouts line the upper deck as the patron ship HMS Fearless enters the Grand Harbour after a training cruise in the Central Mediterranean


1981 - Venture Scout Donald Pace who was awarded the Silver Cross for Gallantry for jumping into rough seas off the Sliema Front  and saving two boys who had been swept off the rocks.


1984 - Senior Patrol Leader Adrian Grima and Cub Scout Jonathan Shaw present gifts on behalf of the children of Malta to Pope John Paul II on Palm Sunday during the first international youth rally organised by the Catholic Church.


1986 - Outside Scout headquarters during excavation work for the Mousehole.


1988 - With Pope John Paul II at a special audience at the Vatican for the Malta Contingent composed of Scouts of St Aloysius College and Sliema Groups to the 16th World Jamboree in Australia, led by John A. Mizzi and Kenneth Demartino.


1988 - Senior Patrol Leader Edward Cassola and Patrol Leader Adrian Portanier Mifsud help Prime Minister Dr. E. Fenech Adami place a wreath on the tomb of the Unkown Warrior at Westminister Abbey as Patrol Leader Michael Sciberras looks on.


2001 - Valentina Tereschkova, the first woman in space, with our Scouts. She had organised several visits by our Scouts to Moscow, including to the Russian space station at Star City.


2004 - Grouped at Ramla Bay, Gozo, during the last competition for the Fearless Shield. The duties of patronship were taken over by HMS Bulwark in May 2005.


2005 - Annual Parade with, next to the Maltese flag, Edward Cassola who now leads the the College Scouts on parade as the new Group Scout Leader.
